Throughout the Old and New Testaments, humans and angels strictly reject worship. Yet, Jesus repeatedly accepted worship without hesitation:

  • After calming the storm, the disciples worshiped Him, saying, 'Truly you are the Son of God' (Matthew 14:33).
  • Following the resurrection, Thomas fell before Him and declared, 'My Lord and my God!' (John 20:28). Instead of correcting Thomas, Jesus blessed him for his faith.

The Historical Reality of Early Belief

The historical record is clear: Jesus' earliest followers believed He was God because of His own teachings, His miraculous ministry, and His ultimate victory over death in the resurrection.
