Is seeking salvation not a self-centered motivation when establishing a relationship with Jesus?

Yes, seeking salvation can absolutely feel or appear self-centered at first glance—after all, it starts with “I don’t want to go to hell” or “I want eternal life.” That’s a very human, very honest starting point. Most people don’t come to faith because they suddenly wake up one day overflowing with pure altruism toward God. They come because they become aware of their own brokenness, guilt, fear of death, or longing for meaning, and Jesus offers rescue. But Christianity (at least in its orthodox, biblical form) doesn’t leave people stuck in that self-centered motivation. It reframes and transforms it. Jesus Himself invites people with exactly that “self-interested” hook: “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28). “Whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again” (John 4:14). “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger” (John 6:35). The offer is deeply personal and meets our deepest needs...

Real talk from a real exorcist

This interview by Michael Knowles covers a lot of interesting topics from exorcism, about how God called both men back from their "lost" lives.  God is real and He will come soon so repent from your sins and accept His genuine love for humanity.  I am sharing this so that you will know

I believe in God, the Father Almighty

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of Heaven and Earth The harmony of the entire universe, the complexity of all creation is undeniable evidence of a grand designer, a master architect.  Saying that it was all due to random movements and interaction of particles and etc, is like telling me that we can expect something like an iphone just by mixing stuff together and expect a highly complicated and engineered product.  Common sense will tell you that just is not possible.  Common sense will however suggest of a  grand author, a masterful artist and a grand creator. This doesn't change even people find discrepancies from ancient people's attempts to know and to describe who the Creator was.  One who has limited knowledge cannot conclude with certainty that someone unlimited doesn't exist.  If the most intelligent human today cannot tell me what is on there on the deepest parts of our oceans, that person has no business telling me that there ...

True happiness is not achieved by getting what you want

I have just seen this and I can relate to him.   I hated my father for the abandoning my mother at the time when she was dying and needed him most.  He abandoned my siblings to follow his newly found desire for a woman younger than me.  For years, I loathed him and I almost destroyed my own life and the people that mattered to me because of that hatred. But then God found me and I learned to forgive my father.  We now talk to each other after years of silence. But other people like this guy here had it worse than I did and God also found him and healed him.

MJL 2023: The Daddy Coach Dilemma

It's almost the time of year when the Waratah Junior League is about to start.  Finally, Covid 19 seemingly is gone and we can now all go back to participating in our favourite basketball junior league, the Waratah Junior Leagues. Preseason had just started like 3 weeks ago and it is great to see basketball finally back.  But along with the good, some red flags are also rearing its ugly head this early on.  Basketball New South Wales should do something about this as this will adversely affect the junior league if left uncheck. BNSW and its member associations I think, overall, have done a great job but there a few things that I want to nitpick and complain about.  First, some real talents will be missed out as playing representative basketball is only for those who can afford the fees.  Can BNSW regulate the fees each association is charging and should they consider expanding or continuing the Hoop Dreams program so it opens the doors for kids who are re...
